I’ve always loved Claude Lelouch’s films, so when I saw a movie he hadn’t heard of, especially with actresses like Catherine Deneuve and Anouk Eme, I decided to watch it. This is the 1976 film Si c'était à refaire. The story is pretty unbeatable in itself. A young and beautiful woman, Catherine Berger (Kathrin Deneuve), comes out of prison after many years, and almost the first thing she does is go to a boarding school, where her son, who does not know his mother, studies. Since she had a good lawyer, everything was organized so that the boy was not adopted, so Katrina hopes to become a full-fledged mother. At first, we will find out without undue details how and why Catherine went to prison. It turns out that at her first job she was raped by her boss, her fiancé, learning about this, decided to teach him a lesson, forcing him to apologize to the girl, but everything went wrong - the boss was killed, Catherine and her fiancé stole his suitcase with money, so that the crime was qualified as a robbery, but again they were unlucky, investigators promoted everything, the guy received a life sentence, Catherine was given 20 years as an accomplice. After some time, the guy in prison committed suicide, and Catherine had the idea to have a child so that she had someone in this life, so that she had a purpose. At first, she tried to persuade her lawyer, but he refused, so she seduced the first nurse she found in the hospital, where she went after she faked a suicide attempt. The baby was taken from her. She was released earlier for good behavior, and eventually manages to live with her son. But even here, despite the fact that they seem to have found a common language, not everything goes so smoothly, again we have to overcome some difficulties, but the end seems almost good. And the heroine may have managed to start her life again. The film, in principle, not bad, but some kind of sluggish for Lelouch, although, on the other hand, I even liked this technique - to show everything without unnecessary details.
